Cosmicport Launches Space Club at Vikasa School

In an exciting step toward nurturing the next generation of space enthusiasts, Cosmicport has officially launched a Space Club at Vikasa School in Thoothukudi, the hometown of founders Liwaans Amuthan and Naveen TS Velayudham. The club was inaugurated with a one-day workshop aimed at inspiring students to explore the world of space technology.

One of the event’s highlights was a special guest appearance by Mr. Prabhakar CA, Former Scientist ‘H’ at ISRO Satellite Center (URSC) and a retired veteran with 36 years of experience in remote sensing satellites and Cartosat technology. As Cosmicport’s satellite advisor, Mr. Prabhakar delivered an insightful talk on space products and technologies, sparking the students’ passion for space exploration and innovation.

Cosmicport’s engineering team also shared their experiences, offering students a glimpse into the various roles at Cosmicport and the exciting future of space technology. The students had the unique opportunity to learn about small satellites, rocketry, and the importance of collaborative innovation.

The day concluded with an exam to shortlist students for the club. The selected students were then divided into four project groups, each focusing on a different area of space technology: Cubesats, Nanosats, Rocketry, and Rovers.

On Independence Day, Cosmicport officially initiated the Vikasa Space Club, with Liwaans Amuthan delivering an inspiring speech about the future of the Indian space ecosystem. He emphasized how Cosmicport would actively support the club by providing technical guidance, exposure to events and competitions, and the opportunity for club members to visit ISRO facilities and other significant space exhibitions.

As part of Cosmicport’s commitment to education and innovation, they also sponsored books for the school’s library, including “Quintessence of Nanosatellite Technology,” a contribution made possible by the company’s advisor, Mr. Prabhakar.

Cosmicport’s initiative marks the beginning of a long-term partnership with Vikasa School, designed to provide students with hands-on experience, industry insights, and the inspiration needed to pursue careers in space exploration.
