Mission Blue Frost Begins

Cosmicport completed its first short-duration ignition test under Mission Blue Frost, marking an early milestone in the qualification of CRYONIX, Cosmicport's methalox rocket engine. The test was conducted at SPARC, Cosmicport's cryogenic propulsion test facility in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu.
First Ignition Under Mission Blue Frost
Mission Blue Frost is Cosmicport's ongoing test campaign to qualify the core hardware of the CRYONIX engine — the injector, ignitor, and thrust chamber assembly — ahead of full-duration, multi-element hot-fire testing. The short ignition/firing test validated ignition reliability and combustion stability using methane and oxygen propellants, a key checkpoint before progressing to longer-duration firings.
Validating the Injector, Ignitor and Thrust Chamber
This test builds on the qualification of the injector, ignitor, and thrust chamber completed earlier this year, confirming that the hardware performs as designed under live firing conditions. Each short-duration test under Mission Blue Frost is a deliberate step toward the full-scale, multi-element thrust chamber testing that follows.
Testing at SPARC, Thoothukudi
Conducted at SPARC, Cosmicport's own cryogenic methalox test facility near the upcoming Kulasekarapattinam spaceport, this test reflects the facility's role as the backbone of Cosmicport's in-house propulsion testing — supporting every stage of CRYONIX's development, from early ignition testing through to future engine qualification.
